Awesome, thanks muhneer for taking the time and effort to do this, others should find it interesting, i certainly do.

Looky looky SOFT DITHER option in 2007wfp A03 service menu, exellent pictures btw

Without seeing any pictures of gradient test, i already feel that the 2007wfp may have less banding simular to the 2407wfp A03 and that would make this display alot more desirable.

didnt know about the serial number rule, sorry about that.

If you have a good url or website with some testing screens etcetera i would like to test for banding and gradients also.

I have of those a03 too. The good thing is that they seems to started to use S-IPS again, at least for some of them.

hi blunden2, how are you finding the 2007wfp? have you run any banding tests on it ?

I like it. I haven't found any banding in desktop mode. The other two modes still have it but I already suspected that, I don't really mind. I tested it by doing a quick gradient in photoshop and at least to me there was no banding. Very nice colors though. :D

Hi muhneer,
Justa quick comment - I would wipe or air brush the bar codes as well. Some people can read those things.
A 2007 A03 = very interesting me thinks:smileytongue:
btw. Quite a few urls mentioned in the faq stickies.
cheers

Thanks i removed the bar also.

I got a little banding test : http://www.muhneer.nl/1007wfp_bandingtest.zip (10 mb)

I haven't resized the images, so its better to see maybe. I see a little banding in the gradient from white to black.

thanks tho :D

oh right there are several images, can anyone see any defects there ?

unfortunatly the display i use at the moment has worse banding than any dell tft made, and i cant tell if banding is not there coz all things show banding on my cmv 938d junk :D

Kev how do they look ?

muhneer, your happy with the results ? one of the tests you used is not meant for widescreens, i didnt know this till recently, its this one found here that should not be used http://www.patel.com.au/2005040101.html. my bad sorry about that,i should of mentioned it b4, i like that test aswell.

It's also included in the 2007FP now:

Does anybody have some pics on what it does and how it looks like having this option activated/deactivated?

'all the facts' tested the setting on and off, he said it didnt seem to make any difference, till recently i thought it was the thing that helped to improve banding on the 2407wfp, but now i dont think it is the reason for the improvment. it would be nice if DELL could explain the exact function of this setting, but they refuse to, its classified you know ;)

dr.larkos its on page 1 of this thread the details on how to access the service hidden menu :D
