I should've posted this. I have checked with the dimm onboard, lists 1 gig. Pop it out and it's 512. So, there is another dimm somehwere and the packing slip for this thing lists 1 GIG - 2 Dimms. I tried to chat woith support but it was too painful. Thought I'd try here

There is no onboard stick on that machine, there are two slots together.
If you read my post, system info lists 1 gig as does the shipping slip. I popped the only dimm I can find under the memory cover and checked again and it list 512mb. So there is another dimm somewhere. Every other laptop I have owned had both dimms side by side.
I am assuming because of the compact size of the laptop, they had to split them up.

Sorry, I misread, thought it said 1505, not 1405. The 2nd module is under the EMI shield, which is under the keyboard. Click on Technical Support tab above, then Manuals, follow to add/remove parts.

however if it's only 512 then the other 512 would be assumed as onboard, now in order to check this you can do this from within Windows:
Right click > My Computer > Properties
this will bring up a box and at the bottom will tell your CPU speed and Amount of RAM

If you go into control panel, system and it lists 512 megs total memory then obviously dell hosed you. Yeah I got two 512 megs as expected.
Call them up.
