C640 Touchpad buttons inoperative

Question

I have a C640 on which the 'Left Click' buttons (2) or the 'Tap' on the Touchpad will not work. Setup is set for Pointing Device: 'Touchpad - PS/2 Mouse'. Pressure graph shows the buttons and Tap working. The Right buttons sometimes work and the pointer slider works. I have to have an external USB Mouse to use the computer. What can I do?   Latitude C640 BIOS A10 Standard 101/102-key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard HID-compliant Mouse PS/2 Compatible Mouse

Go on Ebay and get yourself a used Palmrest and replace the one you have.  They are only $5.00-$15.00 and are really easy to install.

Also check in control panel/mouse/synaptics to see if the touchpad buttons and taping function aren't disabled.
