I installed Fedora Core 6 with grub to dual boot between Windows and FC6. But somehow the boot loader got corrupted. I was running the Reinstallation DVD to fixmbr so I can boot back into Windows.
Interestingly, I had an XP Pro installation CD I had purchased earlier. When I tried to boot with that CD, same thing happed - the system just hung. It didn't even get as far as asking me to press F6 for additional drivers so I'm not sure if it's a driver issue. But I suspect it has more to do with the chipset for the Core 2 Duo, and the BIOS.
The Inspiron E1405 with Core 2 Duo, even though with the name Inspiron, is really a new system I think - new motherboard, new BIOS, because of the new processor. Wonder if Dell had done QA on using the Reinstallation DVD with this new laptop.
