I'm not sure on the purchase of a different disc drive, maybe Dell will sell one to you?

Now, what video card to you have? You said the 128MB, and the X1300 comes with 128MB, but the intel 950 by default uses 128MB of RAM as gfx memory.

If it's the X1300, then yes, you can play high end games. However, expect to be turning most of the settings and/or the resolution down. My 1505 runs Oblivion (one of the most gfx intensive games released to date) on a low res (720x480) with most settings above half.

If you've got the intel chip, if you're still inside 30 days of purchase (which from your join date, you may be), I'd send your machine in and have them replace it with one packing a better gfx chip. You won't lose anything, they'll switch your hdd to the new machine upon request.

Hi,

The return policy is 21 days from Ship date. If the laptop is running fine I would keep it. Like the previous poster stated you can run games but at lower settings. If you want to purchase a DVD +/-R/RW Drive here is one from Dell http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=313-4142

Or you can simply go to  www.newegg.com and do a search for DVD Burner drives. One screw on the bottom of the notebook needs to be loosened and the drive will slide out. Check here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/sm/opdrive.htm#wp999869

Replacing the cd drive is easy and pretty cheap. Just unscrew 1 screw from the bottom of the E1505, it has a padlock icon above it, and it will slide out. You will have to take off the mounting bracket from the old one and put it on the new.

You can get a decent internal laptop dvd burner for 60-100 bucks. Newegg.com is the best place. Any IDE/ATAPI slim drive (12.7mm) will work. I have seen ultra slim ones too around 9mm, but I dont know if they will work. The one that ships with the E1505 including mine is a TSST TS-L532. I am not sure if replacing your drive yourself will void any dell warranties, so you might want to check first.
