Mine is a laptop too (Dell Inspiron 6000). I contacted Dell Hardware Warranty Support and they gave me two options: 1) I could return my laptop and have one of their technicians replace the LCD or 2) they would send me a new LCD and I could replace it myself. I choose to replace it myself, because I didn't want to take a chance of my laptop getting lost in the mail.
Dell provided a link to a website giving instructions on how to replace the LCD myself. I printed out the instructions and then asked my husband to actually replace it - which he did. It was pretty easy.
My laptop is about 8 months old - I wasn't happy with the fact that I am already having to replace parts; however, I am thankful that it is still covered under the warranty!
