Check if Intel can see the card
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=1637&DwnldID=8061&strOSs=44&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional&lang=eng

If you've got a dell internal card you can use Dell's System profiler to show you what type of network card you have - just plug in your service tag:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/en/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~tab=2

If you see anything like
CARD (CIRCUIT), WIRELESS,
CARD (CIRCUIT), NETWORK,
just post back that line item.
Example:

you'll need to open your laptop to install this type of card you posted about, much easier to buy a pcmcia or usb card and just plug it in...

But if you want something completely internal it's doable.
