1) if you enterthe BIOS setup, does it say that the Bluetooth Adapter is installed?  If the BIOS does not acknowledge that the adapter is present, installing the driver probably won't work.

Is the cable proper connected on both ends?
 
Please note that the connector that plugs into the adapter has tiny tabs on the sides to make the connector insert only 1 way. I used magnifying glasses to make sure that I inserted the connector properly.

thankx for replying and it was quick.
where should i look for it?
should it be somewhere by the Infrared?
if thats where i should look its not there so means its not installed in my PC?

On my XPS, when I enter the BIOS setup I press "ALT-P" to go to each subsequent screen. One of the screens has a sub-section called:
 
**************  WIRELESS CONFIGURATION **************
 
it shows the install status of the bluetooth adapter, the mini-PCI wireless card, what Fn+F2 is set to,
 
I don't know the BIOS screens of the X300. I don't know if your BIOS reports any of this information or not.
 
If the version of your BIOS is not the current version, then flashing the BIOS with the latest version for the X300 may provide the information that you seek.

no i don't have no specific "WIRELESS CONFIGURATION" section but i do have "Basic Device Configuration", where i see all infrared, paralel port, keybord and mouse but there is no bluetooth at all.
