Following the XP reinstall did you first install the notebook system software and the chipset driver and then the other drivers? Are there any yellow-flagged items in device manager?
If you're downloading to another computer you can burn a CD or use a flash drive to copy the files to your 2200, then install from there. Some of these are up to 8 MB files.
I did everything you told me. I looked in device manager and the only thing that is marked as a problem is when I show hidden devices "serial" comes up as marked. I think that may have been due to a tweak I did to clear up resources though, but I don't think that would have to do with my sound anyway. Why would this problem exist in Windows but not in linux? Thank you for all your help up to this point :)
