The MBD may have failed, to get your Data, remove the HDD. Take the adapteroff the pins, and fit it to a USB caddy for a 2.5 IDE drive. They are common and cheap. Plug it into your desktop, and it will be seen as an external drive. You can copy the file you want.
If it's the system board, a replacement will run $400 parts; $500 with labor. It may be simply a faulty power jack, which might be replaceable by a surface-mount rework shop for $200 or less.
Before going further, reseat the memory, battery, drives, and any cards. Verify that the AC adapter is OK (LED should be ON).
