I understand you are trying to help but you have a 6400 which is the same as the E1505. Have you tried it? (no, it doesnt work). But changing the volume via 2nd and 3rd buttons does not beep. Annoying workaround.

How about press the Mute button on the front of the system, then adjust the volume, then unmute.
 
I'm curious where you are adjusting the audio that causes that as I can't duplicate, but I am running vista too.

E1705 and E1505. Windows XP set to no sounds.

Some brilliant mind in Dell Marketing Decided that Comsumer systems needed a different naming convention than business systems.  Consumer E1505  = Business I6400  so yes it is the same system.
 
Apparently you are changing the volume via the Windows Volume Control Slider which does have a default ding to it.  The only way you can stop that is to mute "WIndows Sounds" at least that is how I did it in Vista.

Yes I know in Vista this is fixed. They have separate volume controls for each application in Vista. But this is XP and its annoying.

I just use the buttons to adjust the sound anyway, less effort.  Anyway, I was just trying to help.  Have a nice day.
