Excuse me DELL-Rollie, I don't want to pick a fight or anything, but you work for Dell, right? Now Dell must have the extensive specifications of the Hitachi LCD Panel, otherwise how would they know whether or not it meets Dell's specifications? I mean it stands to reason, right? So the information must be there somewhere, meaning you will be able to get it for us. If it isn't, that is just as good as Dell admitting that the screen doesn't meet spec (i.e. Dell would've used the LCD Panel without checking if it meets their predefined specifications, which would eventually boil down to false advertising).
Not to take sides, but Dell is one of the world's largest computer companies. Trying to get one department to talk to another department in large corporations takes an act of God. (so, it is possible that Rollie does not have the specs and that it will take him some time to track down the specs.)
Just as an update on my particular order for those interested, I was finally able to pull up my parts list with the service tag number I was assigned and this was listed:
So, apparently, they can and are able to differentiate between brands - at least when the part is installed. It should be here in a few days, I'll post back with my experience.
Now, if someone can tell me what NO-SPWG means . . .
For instance I have a real old computer, and it looks worse with the effect than the Hitatchi (obviously, it's not the display, the computer's not fast enough to display it being moved smoothly). Once I enable it it won't be disabled upon every restart.
Another of my messages "dissapeared"... Did I do something wrong or was it an error?
"violaten i dont know if you READ any previous posts but the moderator just explained the screen on hitachis site is not the one dell uses.
This clearly negates BLKANGELS " The only LCD made by Hitachi that can possibly fit the specs has response time at 50 ms." argument
we can also clarify this seeing as the specs so far listed by Rollie does NOT match the ones listed on the website"
He hasn't said it isn't using the same response rate as the one on Hitatchi's site. That is all most of us care about, and if it was at 35ms, I wouldn't be sending it back.
So because Rollie says the Hitatchi is not the one on their site means it's not 50ms? Just because some of the specs are different, doesn't mean all will be different.
Even if Rollie told us it was 35ms, it'd be hard to believe, unless there's some kind of driver issue.
"He hasn't said it isn't using the same response rate as the one on Hitatchi's site. That is all most of us care about, and if it was at 35ms, I wouldn't be sending it back."
To make this clear: I don't care if it is a 35ms or not. The heavy ghosting just shouldn't happen with such a config. If the screen is indeed a 35, something else is wrong and I want a solution.
The one thing that seems to have been missed in this thread is that this whole thread is superfluous and misleading. Dell mods have been posting on this forum, and on this issue. Further, this thread should never have been started, since there is already a thread for the discussion of this issue. Disregarding the rules of the forum and posting duplicate threads fragments discussion which isn't helpful (what if this thread comes up with a solution to the problem, and other users look in the other thread for updates?) and clogs the board with duplicate threads, making it more difficult for those of us who read the boards in order to help other users to find posts where we can offer some advice.
The stated purpose of the original poster was to put up something similar to a picket line. But, you're not picketing Dell, you're picketing your fellow users. People like you, who came here for help, are the ones you're picketing. If you want to picket Dell, write a letter and copy it to news, online review sites, other computer companies, anywhere that you feel it will get attention. That would be a picket of Dell, rather than of people looking for help.
brulkikker, I wasn't adressing you in particular, and in fact the only poster I made reference to in my post was the original poster of this thread. My point was that any discussion of the screens, whether it's issues about the response times, or ghosting, or anything else, belongs in the threads already devoted to this issue (there are already at least 2). There is no point in making another thread to argue the same points that are already being argued there.
I didn't mean to attack him, I am only trying to avoid this discussion ends up with: hey it's 35 ms, so this topic is CLOSED!
It could very well be Dell delivered 35 ms displays, and something else is wrong. If anyone got the feeling he / she was attacked by what I wrote, I appologize. I believe in rational arguments, not attacking without good cause.

Maverick: If BMW sold me a car with a V6 engine but got a substandard V6 which limits my horse power then its my opinion tha tthis car seems slower than my buddies yet if i can PROVE this car has a lower grade engine with markings or testing of official kind then i have an argument.
Yup, you could easily proove that the car was substandard. BMW only uses 6-Inline Engines in their cars.
Oh, my WUXGA D800 came with 'show contents...' enabled. Samsung LCD, that was later changed to Sharp WUXGA (Sharp was way, way better btw).
(If you want my opinion Maverick, and I'm quite sure you don't, you're fighting a losing arguement here, and for what? Why do you feel the need to protect Dell?)
I have seen the Hitachi WSXGA LCD Panel next to mine, and it is shocking. I have also put it (my friends) next to an old IBM 15" XGA LCD which had a 40ms response time, and the Hitachi is way worse (like when dragging windows and stuff, and playing games etc.). That would indicate to me, that the Hitachi has a response time greater than 40ms, which is not compliant with Dell's specifications.)
As guilty as I am of participating in this, I agree with
spiked_martini that this thread has served its purpose. Ultimately it was to elicit a response from a mod, which it has. Now we are simply bickering. This issue would be better served if folks were to take their arguments to one of the other existing threads.
Fair enough Rollie, thanks. The only reason I support a lock for this thread is because the original subject line isn't fair to you and is misleading to people since you are obviously responding.
