Are you sure that you don't have some kind of access control enabled on your router (often called MAC Address Filtering)? Have you tried setting the router to its default settings? Then if it works, reconfiguring the security features?
Move your laptop away from the wireless router and try it somewhere in the house even the garage, if it does connect. Then you would have to changed the Channel No. on your wireless router. Hopefully this might help
Yes I have Mac filtering turned off. I am not getting any green bars at all even when I am right next to the wirless router. I can connect to my x-box with the laptop though. I have reset the router to defaut settings and loaded the latest firmware.
I'm thinking the 1390 is not compatible with USR 8054.
I have tried to change all of the settings on the 1390 and I get the same problem.
How are you connecting to your xbox? Is it through ethernet or wireless? Are you sure the wireless radio is turned on? The Fn F2 key combination toggles the wireless radio on and off. Do you have the latest firmware on your router? Newer network cards often have problems with older routers, and therefore it is always a good idea to make sure the latest firmware is running on the router.
I removed the wireless connection from the networkbridge in the network connections area. That got my card working at least. I am having intermittent connections, similar to many, many others on this board. I have done everything I have seen on these boards, but still have problems. Dell support asked me to talk to Robotics support, but I have donwloaded the latest firmware from them.
I will be calling support tonight to see if I can get a different card or send my laptop back.
I am having exactly the same problems. i have an Inspiron 1501 with 1390 Card, and a USR 8054 router. i have two other laptops running off the router wirelessly without problem?????????
I have the
exact same problem with a brand new D620 (opened the box 3 days ago). I also bought a D620 and configured two weeks prior with no problems. It has an Intel Pro wireless setup. This is a serious problem. Can someone from Dell address this on the forum?
I just received my Dell Inspirion 1501 laptop and have spent hours trying to connect to my USR8054 wireless router with no hope. I have other laptops and have no problems with my router connections, they have taken a few minutes to connect.
Do I need to send back this laptop or is there a reasonable way of configuring the Dell 1390 card to operate with wireless devices. I absolutely DO NOTwant a laptop that is incompatible with devices that are out there, there is no room for that today.
Help would be appreciated as I can not use this laptop the way it is.
I was able to call Tech. support and procure a new WLAN card (Intel). It solved the problem. The Dell WLAN is incompatible with that particular USR router (no explanation, it just is).
