The longer you use that PC the less likely any software can recover any deleted files.

This is the best recovery software out there.  http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm
You must remove that hard drive and put it in another PC as a secondary drive, for any chance to recover the files.
Install this software on the Primary drive of the host PC you put that drive in, and run the software on the secondary drive.

Log in with an account that has full Admisistrator privileges. Search the HD for the file(s) you're missing and note the full path to it. Follow these instructions to take ownership of the file by the currently logged account:

Open Windows Explorer, and locate the file or folder you want to take ownership of.
Right-click the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab. In the Change owner to box, click the new owner.
(Optional) To change the owner of all subcontainers and objects within the tree, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.

An Administrator can take ownership of any file on the computer. However, the Administrator cannot transfer ownership to others. This restriction keeps the Administrator accountable.
