Latitude D600 Battery Help!

Question

My Latitude D600 is dead...   Here is the story, hopefully someone can help me.   I was running my computer on the battery, but the charge was only holding for about 20 minutes so I plugged it back into the power cord, however, the cord wasn't working.  The green light on the adapter was not on, and it wouldn't charge my computer.  I tried using another powercord, but this one didn't work either.  I left it alone for a little while, then tried again at another outlet with the same cord, and I heard a little sparking, and now it smells like it was burned.  Luckily, I am getting a new battery soon due to the recall, but that doesn't really matter if i have no way of charging it.    Can anyone help me?

Hi,   You may need a MBD, another option may be a docking station. The MBD is shared with the Inspiron 600m.                                                                            Regards Chris

You'll need to decide whether it's worth spending the $400-500 it'll cost to replace the system board.
