CLick on it and then properties and look for power management settings.See if you have"Allow windows to turn this device off to save power" box checked.If you do Un-check it , press apply or ok and then restart If it still doesn't work reinstall the drivers.Also check to see if you have the right ip-s.

Just want to say thanks to both of you for responding with suggestions for a fix. I tried 'em all, and still the NIC does not function properly.

So ... I went ahead and bought a USB LAN adapter and it works great. It's a simple fix. Thanks again for responding.
