Okay we bought a Dell 2407wfp monitor that has the same native resolution as the laptop and when the laptop is in the docking station, or if it boots with the screen attached, the montor will not load the image and will indicate that we need to change the resolution to 1920x1200..yet it appears to be using this resolution.

I am using the Visa 2407wfp monitor from Dell.  Now what?

...and by the way..this works PERFECTLY on a 5 year old Dell 15 inch monitor.... it allows me to boot directly to the external monitor.

Really I didn't plan this... you see we started out trying to get the Dell 2007wfp monitor working for my Sister.  If you remember it would only work if the laptop lid was open and I'd FN F8 to launch to the external monitor.  If I boot directly to it the video card would launch at a 59hertz rather than the needed 60hertz.  We even bought the Dell 2407wfp that matched the same native resolution to see if that would do the trick...

We FINALLY fixed it by doing the following:

1.  Installed the Dell 2007wfp monitor driver.

2.  Installed a new Dell driver for the laptop that was newer that the one on the laptop.

3.  Found that it would ONLY keep the monitor at the 60hertz if we used the digital cable.  If we used the vga one... it kept flipping back to 59hertz and not launching the screen properly.

So... bottom line.. she wanted the 2007wfp back as the bigger monitor n her area made her squint and I ended up with the 2407wfp.  It also works better for me when I RDP into computers as the 2007wfp wasn't vertical enough for some of my computers that I remote into.

... so ... more of this story is?

Look for those drivers...and try another cable...

But why won't the analog cable KEEP the 60hertz resolution and keep flipping it to 59hertz?
