Does it do 1:1 at 1600x1200? Also older revisions didn't do true 1:1 on other resolutions. I found that 90% of the resolutions are scaled to 1280x1024.
It definitely does 1:1 when fed a 1600x1200 signal via the DVI connector. I tested this both on the A03 and A04 monitors, and only the A04 allows you to choose the 1:1 or Aspect settings when the resolution is set to 1600x1200. The display looks tack sharp too when 1:1 or Scaling is selected (since they both have the same effect at that resolution - the vertical dimension is maxed out).
One thing I will say after some testing tonight is that there is an incredibly bad ghosting / afterimage effect on the A04 monitor, which I'm incredibly dismayed at. It isn't noticeable in all situations, but definitely when dragging a bright window around on a darker background. I tried modifying the brightness to eliminate this, and it does seem to help to have the brightness turned up... but that impacts the level of true black you can then achieve, as anything over about 20 I think is way too bright for both monitors.
Ah well - I'm realizing now that at this price point I will never get exactly what I want, so I'm probably just going to live with the ghosting. Flight simulator looks decent enough, don't notice it too much during daytime, and not at all at nighttime settings. Other than the spanning mode with the A03, I will be using this monitor primarily with a Mac (and probably eventually an XBox 360, which is why I'm bothering to test with games at all).
Where did your A04 2407WFP ship from? I'm getting nervous because I'm getting mine tomorrow and it's coming from the Sparks, NV warehouse. I haven't seen any posts here or on any other forums about ppl. getting A04's from that warehouse. Most of the A04's I've read about came from the TN warehouse.
I purchased a Dell 2407 back in about October I believe (It's been awhile, I can't remember exact date) and received Revision A02. I've not noticed any problems with it, as I don't have any source to check for PS3/Xbox 1:1 ratio that people have been talking about.
My question is: Is it worth it to contact Dell about an exchange? Or were the only changes with the composite inputs between A02, A03 and A04 revisions? I don't currently have a PS3/Xbox, nor do I use any other input other than the DVI, but it would be nice to have a working ratio if I ever decide to use these inputs.
I'm affraid if you contact Dell they may tell you that your 30-day return window has passed -- just based on my experience. Two weeks ago I recieved a unit that was revision A03. Dell said to return it and order a new one that meets my requirements (1:1 interlacing for PS3). It appears that revision A04 is now available. If I decide to purchase it I will have paid for shipping 3 times.
Got my 2407WFP today. A04, no dead pixels, no banding (limited testing so far), no ghosting and no backlight bleed. Happy camper here. Ordered mine on the 19th and it shipped from Sparks, NV.
