Audio Skipping and Choppy Video for E1705, WIN XP - FIXED

Question

I was having problems with skipping audio while listening to music and choppy video/audio while playing DVDs.  The problem was present while using the Draft N wireless expresscard.  If the expresscard was disconnected, the playback would be fine.  I worked with Dell over several weeks trying to resolve this issue.  I updated all drivers including uninstalling and reinstalling the SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver.  This did not solve the problem.   What I did not realize until later on was that the Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio was also installed on the E1705.  I downloaded and installed this driver from the Dell site and IT WORKED!  NO MORE SKIPPING AUDIO OR CHOPPY VIDEO.   I don't how or why this worked - maybe the original driver was corrupt?  I've been 'testing' audio and video playback all afternoon with no problems.   I hope this helps some of you with similar problems.

I have the same problem on my E1405.  How can I tell if the Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio is on my computer? I can't seem to find it.  Thanks!

The Creative driver augments the system audio properties and is normally an upgrade option for sound.  Look in your list of programs for a Creative program (i.e. Sound Blaster Audigy).
