Black screen after Standby (lid closed) with GF4 4200 Go

Question

Hi all. I just upgraded my video drivers to latest available from Nvidia (ver. 53.03) and the drivers seem to have much better performance and better overall features. Only one thing is bad: When I close the lid of my I8500 and XP goes to standby mode and I re-open the lid all I see is a black screen. It is like the graphics card doesnt kick in... Anyone that has the same problem or a solution? Best regards Allan Lauridsen

That is known issue with 53.03 and Go 4200.

I was able to install the unmodified 53.03 from nvidia with no problem except for the problem that he has.  Ever since I have used the modified ones the problem hasnt occured.

We all use modified infs, otherwise it wou'dn't install. For your problem, switch to 52.16 or set do nothing on closing Lid. I unchecked Turn monitor off in Power schema as well.

Nvidia releashed drivers dont work with the go series of graphic cards so you need to get laptop modified versions of teh drivers.  Might I suggest trying http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/ohau-estate/mobilegpuindex.htm..

Hi again. Thanks for pointing me to paradise. Really appriciate it.

I was able to install the 53.03 though... not with the .exe file but by updating the drivers manually in the Device Manager.

I will try the files at paradise webesite instead. Thanks a lot.
