If you are talking about reinstalling the software that comes on the disk, not since February. If you are talking about something else then how do I do it? Also, I don't know if you know this, but netgear wants me to install their wireless connection softaware instead of using MS. Is this a known problem?
Firmware is software that makes the router work. Sometimes the manufacturer (mfg) will update this. It will not be on the CD, but you can get it from their website. If you are talking to them then ask them to check it. To update the firmware you need to download the current version. Be connected via an Ethernet connection (this cannot be done via wireless) and then run the program. You should be able to log into the router and see what version is on the router right now then compare it to what is offered on their web site. Make sure you follow their instructions to the letter because if it is done incorrectly it could damage your router. If you feel like you need someone to walk you through it then the mfg will walk you through it.
As far as their software goes it is fine to use their software, especially for the adapter. Many times the software is needed to get the router set up properly and activated correctly.
