Attach an external monitor.

If it shows the lines --> faulty video card.

If it does not --> faulty display panel. Reseat the ribbon cable inside the system. Still showing? Replace the display panel.

Please call Dell and they will replace the screen for you . Free of cost , even if the system is out of contract as they have identified the issue as a manufacturing defect with some screens . Dell has also sent letters to some customers who are facing this issue
