* Power the 2407WFP off
* Hold down the Menu and Plus buttons
* While holding those two down, press the power button
* Let all three button ups when the monitor powers on
* Press the Minus button to see the menu
* Press the Minus button and scroll down to Clear User Area or Clear User
* Press the Menu button twice

Yes, but this is not working for "Offset", "Gain", all "Presets" etc. fields.

The problem is, I have problems with picture quality because of this bad setting. When the values are too high I see ghosting everywhere. When the values are too low, the picture is dark and no true colors- banding. I can not set the optimum performance, because there are many combinations of the fields.

Thanks for help.

Thank you very much. But there is one little problem, softMCCS says: "DDC/CI NOT SUPPORTED". How can I enable this function? I have Nvidia 7600 GS and Windows XP.

First, run this application to restore the Monitor Factory Defaults

Click Here
* On the left by the disk icon, click sofMCCS
* Click Run
* If asked, click Run again
* Click OK
* Check I agree...
* Click Next
* Click Start
* Click OK
* From your desktop, double-click the softMCCS icon
* Scroll down to Preset operations
* By Restore factory defaults, click the green Restore arrow
* The display will black out and then return
* By Restore factory lumunance/contrast defaults, click the green Restore arrow
* By Restore factory color defaults, click the green Restore arrow
* Close the softMCCS box
* Click No to KEEP the changes if asked

* If the Monitor Factory Defaults are not to your satisfaction, use softMCCS to tweak the settings. I will list below the settings I use on my 2407WFP A03 -
Geometry Horizontal position (phase) = 50
Geometry Vertical position (phase) = 28

Image adjustment Luminance = 60
Image adjustment Contrast = 46
Image adjustment Red video gain = 84
Image adjustment Green video gain = 85
Image adjustment Blue video gain = 80

* After you have made these changes, close the softMCCS box
* Click No to KEEP the changes if asked

At this point, you may make any further changes you see fit knowing that you can always restore to the Factory Defaults.

Can you use the Reset functions of that software? If yes, do it.

MasteroPaulie,

How did the monitor look out of the box? Do you have a record of the changes you made in the Factory Mode? This is the first time I have seen this software fail to read a 2407?

So,
I sorted out the problem with softMCCS, the monitor only required power cycling.

But the reset function in the programme is the same function as on the monitor. It resets only basic settings- not the factory settings (seen in service menu).

Apparently there is not any solution :(

MasteroPaulie,

Get it replaced.

If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use Chat or Email support to setup the monitor exchange.
If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in, 1-800-624-9896. They will need the following information -
Monitor 20 digit PPID number
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number

Chris, it has been more than ten years since you posted this. Today it really saved me. I had messed up my Dell 2407WFP to a point that it was nearly useless. Your instructions worked perfectly. Thanks so much for the help.
