Distorted pixels on my 2001FP (good after turning monitor off and on)...

Question

Every time I turn on my computer + LCD, about two - three minutes after Windows starts, I get distorted pixels all over the screen. Pixels which should be black becomes red, white pixels becomes turquoise etc... At first, there are just a few lines, or groups of pixels and every second more and more pixels gets corrupt until its all over the screen. Every time this happens I turn the LCD off and on one time after which the picture and pixels stays perfect the rest of the computer-on-time. What can cause this problem - magnetic/electric interferrence, is my LCD faulty or what ? In the LCD's immediate vecinity I have a small, low-cost, five port HUB, the tranceiver for my Logitech MX700 and the center-speaker of my Inspire T7700 7.1 surround system. (But since the LCD is working great after one turning off-and-on, I can't believe those are causing the problem.) And FYI, I have my LCD connected to my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro's DVI-port.(There were never any interferrences with my previous CRT monitor placed in the same enviroment.)

Go into your ATI control panel and under Options, select 'Reduce DVI frequency on high resolution displays'.  This should fix the probelm.

Hi, I have the same problem and after expending more than 6 hours with tech support, I believe you have the solution to this situacion, But when I look for ATI control panel , can't locate it. only through search andstill can't have it open. Pease help me I'm sure, thanks to you guys, am close to solve this problem.

The ATI control panel is in the Display Options.  Easiest way to get to it is to right click your desktop and pick properties.  Then go to the settings tab and click the advanced button.  If you have the catalyst drivers installed, you should see the options tab that was referred to in the previous post.

I woke up this morning with the intention to return my 2001 fp, but after making the changes suggested by you and for the fist time since I got my 2001fp found NO distortion on the monitor. THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!***** DELL TECH SUPPORT should learn from this forum before answering any call.... Thanks
