Okay....I just got off the phone with Comcast. We tried everything!! What is happening is my IP address won't change (update) It expired on 6/13/07 (this is when I lost the ability to get on the Internet) Comcast said it's a problem in my Dell PC. To call Dell. Before I do that (at a cost) maybe someone in here can help with this problem! Please!

According to your ipconfig DHCP is enabled but the DHCP server is 10.10.10.1

It is DCHP that dishes out IP addresses.

Routers handle DHCP and are usually at 192.168.1.1

 

Did they have you check the properties of the TCP/IP Internet protocol properties for your connection?

Are they set to automatic?

I'm curious: when "everything" was tried, did that include a command "ipconfig /renew"?

Okay. Is this next command something they tried? It resets the entire IP stack as if it were a new system:

 

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

 

Microsoft says this about the command:

"In Windows XP, a reset command is available in the IP context of the NetShell utility. When you run the reset command, it rewrites pertinent registry keys that are used by the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stack to reach the same result as the removal and the reinstallation of the protocol."

 

Rarely do we use this at work to clear up an IP problem. And then reboot. Sometimes it works.

Do I do.... run....cmd.... netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt?

Are their spaces between "netsh int ip resetlog.txt"

I just tried what you said, and it didn't work.

It came up saying "the following command was not found" int ip resetlog.txt

 

I tried it again and the same thing, I did notice that the word "netsh" was not in the message that was coming up, if that means anything??

 

Is there anything else I can try?

After cmd, at the command prompt type: netsh /?

You should get a help list for netsh

If so, type this to do the reset:  netsh interface ip reset

This has got me so baffled...I have been up all night trying different things. Did a search on this matter and found out a lot of people have had this problem. Most of them got it fixed by one of the methods you have giving me or by downloading a winsock fix. No luck with me and my problem.

I brought up the list for netsh/? and I typed in netsh interface ip reset...it didn't recognize the command!

i didn't know what to do next. I typed in resetlog, and got this.

I know. When it comes to my own home equipment, I like to fix crazy stuff like this with a hammer.

 

Are others able to use your router to connect? I assume you're in the forum from another access point.

I am tempted to begin blaming the network interface adapter in your computer or the router.

 

Haven't seen any posts from other members. Any ideas guys?
