Hi:

Assuming you mean Webroot's Spy Sweeper, it is certainly a reputable anti-spyware program. Many here use and recommend it. Of course it is not free.

However, it is not a case of either/or; when it comes to anti-spyware programs, you can use more than one. (unlike AV programs, where you should not use more than one). No AS detects everything. And there is nothing wrong with Spybot.

Personally, I do not see the need to purchase any AS programs, as there are many excellent free scanners out there. I use Windows Defender running for its real-time AS protection, and use the others below as on-demand scanners for a 'second opinion'. You will no doubt get other opinions.

My (free) anti-spyware defenses:

- Windows Defender (Final release) Resident Anti-Spyware
- AVG/ewido anti-spyware v.7.5  (demand anti-spyware/anti-trojan scanner)
- a-squared Free 3.0 (demand  anti-spyware/anti-trojan scanner)
- Ad-Aware SE Personal (demand  anti-spyware scanner)

Spybot S&D also has the Resident SD Helper to protect you from malicious web sites downloading active x controls without your knowledge or consent...as well, you can add the Spybot's Hosts file which imho, is excellent.
