XPS 1710 laptop not recognizing power adapter.

Question

When turn on laptop with A/C power adapter plugged in, error shows up after BIOS boots and before XP comes up. The error reads does not recognize power adapter, need proper 130W power supply, blah, blah, blah. Well swapped the power brick and A/C cord that plugs into the wall with a new 130W one and still get the same error. Laptop will boot fine under battery power without A/C adapter plugged in. Customer thinks she might have done a Dell update. Any Bios update issue out there?

I had the same problem with my XPS M170. I bought a replacement Dell PA-13 adapter and got the same message. Replaced the ac jack on the motherboard, got the same message and then I purchased a Dell PA-15 150 Watt charger and now It boots and charges.

Update

Now it's back to not booting with the adapter and won't charge. Looks like Dell has got us with the motherboard issue.
