It's still there, at least as the Inspiron 6400. It won't be for much longer - it is due to be replaced, I believe by the E1520.

It's been on the market for over a year, which is a long time for a notebook model - it is due for replacement with one of the new Santa Rosa-based Centrino Pro platform models, as are all the current Inspirons.

I just purchased an E1505--loaded--last week. I didn't even know about the 1520 until after I placed my order. I hope I'm not sorry I didn't wait. I won't be sorry if I got a bargain because they were on the way out. But if I'll be able to get the new 1520 at a similar price to what I paid, I'd be unhappy. This raises the question: How soon before the production of an order is complete do you have to cancel without penalty?

I think you cancel before you get it without any penalty.

I'm in the same boat as you, Latichever. Ordered mine last week at a great price, but wish I would have known about the new 1520. My ship date isn't until the first week of July. Supposedly the 1520 is coming out next week. When is your ship date?

Ordered 6-16. Ship date 7-13. I got it loaded so maybe that's why it's projected to take so long. If I'm getting a great price relative to what I would have to pay for the 1520, I won't mind. I find it interesting that if you go to the Home/Business product page, there's slim pickings. No 1505--only the 1501, although at Small Business you can still get the 6400. This must be a slow time for them not to worry about having as many selections available. I went on the sales chat the other day, and asked the rep if he knew when the 1520 was coming out. The answer: "I have no information about future product offerings." Yeah, right.
