Most likely you will need to replace the screen - it sounds as if it has been damaged.

Hi, Keith!

How are you? Well, I can't really say that ALL, but all of the computers that I was exposed to manufactured by Dell computers incorporated have the screen issues. Heavy screens, like my 17" Dell Inspiron E1705, are showing huge signs of damaged corners. For example, the left and right corners of the screen are darker than the rest of the screen. Some screens are better than the others, but all are not perfect.

As you develop the dark spots, are they completely dark or you can still see something through them? If you can, then it is most likely the weight and the use of the LCD that created this. However if they are completely black, then it is a definite screen damage. The screen replacement will be about $300, which is a lot. It may also be caused by something a lot cheaper than what the replacement will cost. My advice would be to go to a repair shop and see if they can analyze the problem. They should give you the answer free of charge, as well as give you the repair costs.

Hope this helps.

Eugene
