I have all of the updates as far as I know. I think that the problem may be with my network. I noticed that if I disabled a network hard drive connected to another computer on my home network that the sleep function worked fine. I restarted the other computer on the network, turned the drive off then back on, and now sleep works just fine.
I have no idea what the issue was, but I'm glad it's working (for now).
