I have the same problem with my 710m.  The integrated SD reader appears to see <1GB SD cards only.
When I insert my SanDisk Extreme III 2GB SD into the 710m, it is unable to read it and shows no drive in IE explorer.
There seems to be an upper limit for this drive of 1GB???  Can someone from Dell comment on this?  I've checked the Help content on my notebook and there is no information on this topic.
Is there a way to upgrade the drivers for this SD reader so that it can read > 1GB?

Same issue here, i have a 2GB Kingston SD Card. The card reader won't read it. Why is Dell support not doing anything about it?

 

EDIT: DELL has done something about it There is a new driver for this which worked flawlessly for me:
