Yeah, it's the aqua coloured shadow behind the red moving box (on grey background) that concerns me the most. Seems there's defiantly something going wrong there. My old Dell 1905FP at work ghosts, but not like this thing.

Firstly, Chris M, your presence in this thread is appreciated, it's good to know that at least the problem appears to be recognized. However, I think what everyone here deserves is a clear answer.

I, along with many others, including those who have posted on this forum, am experiencing the ghosting issue. So far you've told us that you think we will be able to exchange our monitors past the guarantee date when a revision is released that fixes this issue, and that this issue may be fixed. The problem here is that this is a time sensitive issue for most, including me. Most people want to refund their purchase and get another monitor. But at the same time you're saying "Wait to exchange, we're working on this issue."

My point is that so far there is no guarantee that this issue will be resolved, if even really acknowledged, and beyond that if we'd be able to exchange for the new revision. So if people listen to you and don't refund, and then find out that either it isn't fixed, or they can't exchange, they've been bummed out of a $700+ purchase, because they're past the refund date.

Can you guarantee any of your claims? Will this issue be fixed, and will we be able to exchange our current monitors for the new ones at no cost when it happens?

Montius, All,

This will take us some time. The guys in the lab on friday said they could not reproduce the issue playing WOW. I need your complete specs to know what your using:

PC model
CPU
RAM
Video card

If you do not want to wait, return the monitor for credit within the 30 days from the invoice date. If you choose to wait, the monitor warranty coverage will be as follows -
* If you purchased the monitor tied to a PC, the PC warranty coverage applies to the monitor (either the 1 year or the the 3 year)
* If you purchased by itself, you paid for either the 3, 4, or 5 year monitor warranty coverage

I have had my 2407WF-HC since it came out and never noticed this issue. I did the test and did see the problem. I did the fix by lowering the color settings to red 86 green 85 blue 84. I do not see the ghosting anymore. I will have to do the calibration again to see how much it changes the color settings

I am very happy with this monitor otherwise I would have sent it back during the 21 day return period. My build date is April 2007 Made in Mexico.

I reset my color settings to red 90 green 90 blue 90 and the ghosting is still gone. When I put the settings back to 100 the ghosting  comes back. Actually I like the 90 setting.....looks real good.

Would you be able to provide the link for the colour profile? The CD that came with my monitor does not have the -HC version of the color profile.

Mine is also Mfg. Aug/07 Mexico. Ghosting not a big issue when brightness/contrast turned down.  I'm more concerned with color. Mine is definitely "hot" on red.

Hi, I just purchased the 2407HC on August 17th, 2007, and I can also reproduce the ghosting issue as mentioned in this thread by hovering any bright mouse cursors over a darkly lit surface, the ghosting trail is very apparent. The problem can be seen even more easily when playing games that has dark environments with bright objects in them, by moving the in-game camera around, the light object leaves distracting black trails over the environment.

Spec:
2407HC Rev.A00 [Manufactured in MEX Aug '07]
Resolution used [1920x1200 @ 60Hz @ 32bit Color Depth]
Monitor Settings[ Brightness 40, Contrast 40, Custom Color R93 G90 B94, Desktop Mode ]
Color Management Profile [ 2407WFPHC.icm ] as provided in the Dell Support website.

XFX 8800GTX 768MB w/ DVI connector
Vista 32bit Business
2GB Ram

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

This should have the color profile contained in it, although I'm not 100% sure.

Chris: Would it also not be wise to get their monitor settings and what color profile they're using? It seems possible that the reason certain people are having problems and others aren't is that they are using different settings. Also, I believe HL2 and BioShock are two games that people have complained about having terrible ghosting with this monitor, so I would try testing those two (if your techs have them available, that is). Or, you could send me a 2407 HC for free, and I'll try and reproduce and pinpoint the issue for you as I own both. =P

Chris:

PC model - Asus P5K
CPU - Core2 E6600
RAM - 4GB Corsair CM2X1024-6400C4
Video card - EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB

Tell the lab guys that the best place to reproduce the ghosting in wow is in terrokar forest, or in the Bone Wastes. They'll also see it with NPC's in Shattrath city in aldor rise against the beige streets and buildings.

¿Ha probado usted el "fijar"? El conjunto colora a rojo: 86, verde: 85, azul: 84. Infórmenos si eso fija el problema para usted. Las disculpas, mi español es terrible tan utilicé a un traductor.

I'm just worried that by the time they figure out if they can fix it or not, I won't be able to return it for a refund. If they can't fix the problem, I don't want to be stuck with this monitor. I'm really glad they're working on it though.
