saltylooks,
1) Are you currently shipping wfp-HCs, I read earlier others who just ordered experienced a slight shipping delay - is this on account of this issue/is there a temporary hold on shipments?
* If there are delays, they have nothing to do with the ghosting issue.
2) If the ghosting issue ends up bothering me, how will with the shipping process work to receive an updated monitor (both inside and outside the warranty) - i.e. will you ship a return box to me, then I ship the monitor back?
* Any exchanges must be performed INSIDE the warranty period.
3) Will I get a new monitor, or a refurbished one back? (this is assuming I go through you through the process you outlined above).
* Through me, New.
4) Is there any sort of timeline in place for this process yet?
* Nope.
wlk_,
What about us people in Europe? Are you able to handle such exchanges overseas (or from local European productions)?
* No. I can only do USA exchanges. We can communicate with our brethren over there explaining what is going on and what we are doing...

Yes, please, that would help.
I tried to contact my local sales rep explaining this issue, but he invited me to go through the usual customer service, and I guess they wouldn't know anything about this by now.
I'm still uncertain as to how to begin the replacement process through you if we are experiencing this issue. Do we private message you? Is there a phone number we can call to reach you?
I have the monitors just a week now. From the first moment i didn't like the pointer movement as the black trail is about 5cm long in many cases . It all depends on the speed you move the mouse. When i'm making circles with the pointer , it becomes really fuzzy .
Also , while moving windows i can also see the black trail again . All of these happen at gray/black background , as the default background of win2003 i'm using for years .
In games the ghosting is minimal and i can say i don't really care as i play 3-4 games per year.
What makes me feel bad is the performance in desktop ...
As it was my first LCD monitor , i wasn't sure if it really was a problem . After seeing more than 5 different models , i'm pretty sure that these monitors have something wrong.
I hope that we (people at Europe) , will have decent support like the people from US .
Please Chris , do what is possible to inform dell departments at other countries.
Chris, monitors of other company also have its problems but, want to be thankful for comportamente of DELL, through you, for always answering our questions. I want to buy 3 units of 2407wfp-hc to bring to Brazil '(I will be of November the December in U.S.A.) I must wait that it has left a new revision with these decided problems?
"* If there are delays, they have nothing to do with the ghosting issue."
Alright that answered exactly what I wanted to know at the same time it's not good news really.
I have a 2407 hc coming this thursday 13th so I guess I will just call and cancel it. I thought the delay was because they were making a new rev 01 :( or a new flash/bios was done. It doesn't seem that way then.
Will that be the right action to take? I mean I don't want to receive a monitor to later find out that I need to send it back for a fix or something similar.
If the problem is common (a lot of people are experiencing it) why does dell keep selling them?
Only gamers and tweakers noticed this problem!! of course it's because they know more than the average joe but just because regular people don't see it (but the problem is there) does that make it ok.
Thanks Chris. Of course if the team finds something about the problem and fix it in these 2 days I will still take it. I really like this monitor I sold my regular 2407 to get the 2407 HC and looks what happens. I guess luck is not on my side :(
It's been quite few of weeks already so I know by wednesday Chris is going to give us good news from the team that is working on the problem or I am hoping so. :)
I received this monitor a few weeks ago. Didn't notice the ghosting until I read this forum :( I'm running it on 2x7900gt in SLI. I get pretty substantial ghosting in HL2/css, in dark areas such as the halls in dust. Also in Oblivion. On lighter objects, I get white ghosting, but it's a lot less apparent than the dark ghosting. I have my colors tweaked to around 80 for each, and I'm using a color profile I found on hardforum. These actions reduced the ghosting, but it's still noticeable. Hope this matter will be resolved soon, I really 3 this lcd. Moral of the story is to not read forums - ignorance is bliss, lol.
I live in Singapore, and I got my monitor a couple of weeks ago. It is made in China.
I can see the ghosting quite prominently, but incidents of green ghosting when there are grays on screen are more more frequent in my case, than the black ghosting/halo. I will return this monitor and get another one before the 30 day return period if this issue is not resolved soon. :smileysad: Otherwise, I like this monitor a lot. It's reallt great in all other aspects.
Don't expect news from Chris anytime soon.... He has no idea when and IF ever a solution will be found. As we speak their teams of engineers have absolutely NO IDEA what is the problem !
Also Dell should announce his new 2408 monitor this fall, so it beg the question, will they really fix it ?

* That would be correct. They will not know anything until our investigation is finished.
