Both of those games have motion blurring. I suppose that could serve as a reason as to why it's more apparent.

"I was thinking maybe this monitor needs a better response time?   I see new monitors coming out 28" at the same price as this 24"  and they have 3ms.  "

I would bet that's a different type of panel with far fewer colors, etc.  To get a better response time at this point, as far as I know, you have to concede something, usually number of colors and viewing angles I believe.

Great to hear that they are working on the problem. Hope for a solution soon.

Wow, I couldn't have that wallpaper on for over a minute on this monitor. It really have the black ghost pronounced while dragging icons and windows, especially in the middle to bottom part. I think Chris should have the technicians put on this wallpaper on their sets if they are still looking for more proof.

Also, I was one of the ppl who mentioned that the monitor is slanted to one side. About half inch difference which is very noticeable to me. Hope they can also look into that although I don't hold my breath because only few ppl complain about that.

I feel the same as franzie, I don't want to give up this monitor. Barring the ghosting/shadowing issues it's a great display.

I can really see the ghosting/shadowing on the Glowing Vista wallpaper too.
It's called inverse shadowing on Hardforum, I guess because it leaves a dark comet tail trail not really a ghost of the curor.

My monitor also wouldn't level out when horizontal right out of the box. The left side was about 1/4 inch higher than the right. I kept pushing the left side down and now it sits level.

With the A/C off here at home (having really cool nights here now), the monitor gets pretty hot and about two feet away I can feel the heat coming off the screen on my face.

Hmmm... Mine is like tilted 1/4" too high on the left side as well. Chris, will this tilt problem be fixed in the next revision?

Hi Chris,

There wouldn't be problems due to the fact that I purchased in the USA (by eBay) while I live in FRANCE ?
Is the warranty international ?

Thank you

webzeb,

In the USA, we would check the PPID numbers on the back of those monitors and verify that they were within 3 years old. We would then use those PPID numbers to place you as the owner of them. I cannot speak for how Dell France would do it.

Hello,

I bought 5 Dell 2407WFP-HC from the USA (I live in FRANCE, where this model was not yet available when I purchased them...).

I tested 4 of the 5 monitors : they all suffer from a BIG ghosting effect.
These monitors simply can't be used to play games or movies. Even scrolling on webpages, it's a disaster.

Reducing RGB gains reduces a bit the problem.

What to expect about warranty ?
Is it international ?

3000$ for trash... :S

webzeb,

We have several teams investigating the issue but have yet to discover the root cause. Until we know the root cause, we cannot have a corrective action plan in place. Please keep tabs on this thread for further updates.

You may return the monitor now or wait for us to announce our findings. If you decide to return the monitor now for credit while inside the first 21 days from the invoice date, contact Customer Service.

They will need the following information -
20 digit PPID number on back of the monitor
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Return Reason

mchen01,

Chris, will this tilt problem be fixed in the next revision?
* No.

I took a carpenter bupple level and checked my desk (level), and then the monitor (slightly unlevel). I then pushed up on the bottom right corner of the monitor to level it out using the carpenter bupple leveler. Any time I knock against the table the monitor goes unlevel. This play is present in all them. For this issue I would not consider replacing the monitor. Try this -

* Remove the monitor from the stand
* Place the monitor facedown onto a towel so as to not scratch the bezel
* Look for the 4 screws holding the bracket to the stand
* Loosen the 4 screws
* Take a carpenter bupple level and level the bracket
* Tighten the screws slowly checking the level
* Once tightened and level, place the monitor back onto the stand

Chris,
You already he saw the information techniques of BENQ FP241WZ? ' AMA'. DELL 2407 could not use this same technology of acceleration?

I got an update this morning. Root cause has been found (Dell Confidential, don't ask). Next, we move into the discussion phase about what the manufacturer can do etc. Give us time.

AND Now he's saying they didn't find it ?? WHAT IS THIS ????     :robotmad:

Is ChrisM only a pseudonym ?

LOL, tijean66 you beat me to it. When I read ChrisM's posts above, it also struck me since he wrote in a previous post the root cause has been found... so what is really the truth?

Either ChrisM has multiple personalities, or as tjean speculated - it's a pseudonym, and the left hand is not talking to the right. Either way - could we please get some clarity on this issue?? I have a 2407 ordered and awaiting shipping, but if the root cause isn't found I'll probably go ahead and cancel it.
