About the France firmware, how can they say that the sample they are using has a different firmware from others?

I look in all pages from that review, and they didn't say wich firmware the sample comes. How can we compare to be sure about a new firmware? With what???

In time: is possible make a firmware (if there is any) update without return the monitor to Dell?

Regards.

mcunha.

The question about updating the firmware without returning the monitor to Dell has already been asked, and the answer is it is not technically feasible.

As for the Hardware.fr opinion about a new firmware, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Sizam  can you check this wallpaper:

And tell us if you don't see black mouse shadows following you all the time, especially in the right middle section where there is a brownish tone.  It's just a sample but it happens to me in this wall and many others. Some people are saying they don't see the problem and it's not a big deal, but we just put this as an example, in games it's a whole different thing. Quite annoying too.  Dell another week/month passing by, jesus tell us something already.

lol! with that wallpaper Dell is going to have more then 180 cases garanteed lol...

And anyhow what is this fictional 180 number anyway...I am POSITIVE every single monitor has this problem so the number of cases should be the amount of 24" Dells sold out there :)

Hi All,
So here is my .icc profile

http://inerd.net/Dell-24-hc.icc

Google installing icc profiles for your monitor

My RGB, brightness, contrast settings after calibration are:

R: 84
G: 85
B: 83

Brightness: 23
Contrast: 50

Be sure to reset your monitor to factory settings before you do any of this so you're starting w/a clean slate.

Setting the brightness to 23, and your other settings make this monitor look so ugly, it become so dull and white is now grey...I cannot believe anyone like these settings !!

I tried out Sizam's profile and settings. I can still see the ghosting, especially on that wallpaper DimensionGoku posted. Doesn't seem like the ghosting was reduced at all.. :/

Thanks for the information Sizam , I was hoping you say hey "No ghosting here"  :smileysad:
So ghosting still present. I will wait and see if more people try the file you posted and maybe we see more results.  Maybe someone can explain a simple way to install the file for the noobs.

Anyway, don't you guys think is about time Dell tell us something already?
How come a supposedly group or team is working on a issue for 2 months without finding anything?

That sounds absurd. If that is how long they are taking to tell us about any findings I don't want to imagine how long is going to take for a solution after they announce that the problem have been found.

I see very slight ghosting on that background if I look really closely, still no ghosting in WoW or video games. As for the settings and .icc looking bland, they're the result of $1500 calibration software to make the monitor display a full gamut of true colors. If you're used to the contrast/brightness/saturation really high all the time then you won't be able to see the nuances of a full gamut and you'll think its 'bland'. Just like if you're used to McDonalds all the time you won't taste all there is in really good real food :) Leave the settings as they are for a couple days and you'll see colors/shadows/highlights you've never seen before, then crank it all back up and see how absurd it looks. I do absolutely agree that the standard settings are not what you should see on this screen. I set my brightness to 25 leave the contrast as it is and set all the colors to 85. In that way I really can see a relaxed picture full  of colors without saturation and very easy on the eyes. Also it eliminates the green ghosting entirely. I will try this ICC tonight and see how it affects the black ghosting with which I can not fight alone :) For the people that does not see it I could recommend to open the wallpaper posted here and to take a deep breath marveling at the perfect long black trails of every moving pale object :)) It's really something unbelievable how Dell could not reproduce it. I am absolutely sure that all the monitors of that model exhibit the same behaviour just maybe some people haven't tested with dark backgrounds. It should not be like that,  right ?

Here's a fix: switch to a black mouse pointer instead of a white one. :) Seriously, give it a try.

machinaex  Before posting you should find out or read this thread better, the ghosting is present even with the black pointer, or any other color you choose. It's not a matter of what color pointer you are using, it's a matter that this monitor suffer for a quite annoying ghosting effect and the reason we post such sample it's just to show how easy it's to reproduce this effect in a simple wallpaper. But the really issue shine when you play games or watching fast scenes in movies. Dell said that they can't even reproduce the issue is just something that no-one here believe. I have friends that has this same monitor (reason I got one) my friends friends have them too and every single one of them suffer from the same issue so as many people here. It's time that Dell tell us what the finding are instead of keeping it quite hoping for the problem to go away by itself because that will not happen. They are still selling a monitor that even though works has an issue that doesn't let it shine at it's best especially for gamers who are the main target for this lcd.

If people buy this monitor to just check their emails and open a web-page (google) then yeah the monitor is ok, but we didn't get a 600+ dollars monitor to just do that. I don't buy that with all the information available they haven't find what the problem is. I don't even think they haven't start digging into the problem, otherwise we would have news by now and tell us something like we check the overdrive, RTC etc but not even that get.  Monitor is still selling so why bother. People keep coming to this thread after they buy it, Dell does that tell you something?  why are they coming to the forums? for the fun of it?    and they haven't reproduce the ghosting!!!  give me a break!

I use this monitor 80% of the time for photoshop work and its _amazing_, don't hesitate to buy this monitor for Graphic Design or Photoshop, the only monitor better is the 30" HC.

You won't have any problem as far as I know. I am no gamer and use this monitor with Maya 8.5
Work wise it doesn't affect me at all, yes when i go crazy with the mouse I see ghosting but other then that this screen is amazing (size and quality) :)

mrfaize  I can't really tell about how does the ghosting affect this lcd while using photoshop as I don't really use it, but others probably will tell you. One thing is for sure though, if you spend a lot time a day on this monitor you will see the ghosting one way or another.  In some cases even while dragging a window.
