Hi,

It could be a MBD fault, run the Diags and see if you get any errors. It also may be worth reseating the memory and CPU, I doubt that will be the fix, but it cant hurt and is then one less thing to try later.

Hi,

Reseat means take out and but back in. Check the manual. the CPU is under the KBD top RHS, the memory is under the door on the bottom. Without seeing it, the MBD sounds like the most likely cause. Try the reseat, then try to boot with an external screen. Repost with what happens when you try to boot, what LED's come on and how long.

Hi,

The fan only comes on when needed, if running you can test it with the Diags. If the fan has failed, the CPU could have been overheated and damaged. It should shut down though, so I would still try a reseat.

Hi,

The caps lock light is a sign of memory trouble. As is the message. You can try the other socket, you can use either as you dont have to use slot " A " first..

Hey, so i took one Ram bar out and it worked so far. i ran the diags: it said memory was good but then it said something about poping in some cd but i canceled that. so i game the pc a test try and tried installing Suse Linux. So i was installing it, it all worked well until in the middle of the installation, the pc froze. and im back at the same problem i had. the only solution i found is reseting the memory and then it booted up but then it froze when i ran a liveCD. well thats wat happens when i do it over and over. Message Edited by ichimeno on 09-04-2007 08:37 AM is that suppose to happen? or like is the pc like permenentaly broken?

Hi,

Try combinations of memory stick and socket. It still could be a MBD, but rule out what you can.

Hi,

It could be the MBD, but try combinations of memory and socket. Some people have found by jamming some cardboard under the mem. stick will let it make good contact. If you need a MBD, it wont be cheap, so you want to be sure.
