Power adapter for inspiron 1300 not charging battery or acting as AC.

Question

I've had an Inspiron 1300 nearly for a year and my power adapter has stopped charging the battery and acting as AC. Does anyone know whats wrong with it?

Unplug the adapter from the machine - is the LED on it, ON? If not, the adapter is faulty. If it is on, the power jack or power circuitry on the system board is at fault.

The LED Light is on and its not working, so i'm going to buy a new one. Thanks!

If the adapter LED is on, but it's not working, the system board is faulty, not the adapter.
