Wortdog,

Connect the HDMI to DVI cable from the PS3 to the monitor for video.

Then, run the PS3 AV cable (red/white audio) out from the PS3 into this, and then into your audio in on the PC sound card.

Use the PS3 console to choose HDMI to DVI for video and the av cable for audio. Now, the 2405FPW has a native resolution of 1920 by 1200 (which means it has a 16:10 aspect ratio). However, 1080p is 1920 by 1080 pixels (which gives it a 16:9 aspect ratio). So if you hook up the PS3 to the monitor through a HDMI cable (with a HDMI to DVI cable) the picture will either have some small bars on the top and the bottom, or it will streatch slightly to fit the whole screen. Some people hate black bars, and some people hate stretching. Its personal preference. According to this , your monitor can choose to either stretch or not.

Chris.... I got my Monster HDMI to DVI cable in the mail today and it will not display a picture when I select the DVI video input on the 2405FPW monitor. I also have the PS3 hooked up to the component on my monitor, which I do get a picture on.  The component video input screen says that the PS3 has detected a HDMI signal/device, I select it to switch to HDMI video and then black screen.  I would assume that I would get some type of picture...even though the monitor is not HDCP compliant.

I'm curious, will a HDMI to DVI adapter work to get 1080p, where a HDMI to DVI cable will not?  Would there be a difference between the two?
