no menu bar in open folders

Question

Greetings all --   For some reason the menu bar is not showing up when you open a folder.  Due to this I am not able to access view menu to activate toolbars etc.  I don't recall changing any settings, however the computer has been in the closet for a year after an upgrade to an xps 700.  It is pretty much a stock 8100 with service pack 2.  Everything else seems pretty normal as far as operation/appearance.  Any insight as to what may be causing this?   Be of good cheer! Not sure if this will work,but try this,start>right click explore>tools>view tab>'reset all folders' button.

Greetings all --   Thanks for your prompt input.  Unfortunately, none of the suggestions worked.  There is a menu bar and tool bars in the explorer, but not in any other open folder.  I'm at a loss and it is an old computer that I'll probably give to a co-worker so i'll probably f-disk it and do a reload.   Thanks again for the help   Cheers   norm
