SpeedyVV,

* The Preset Display Modes do not list 900x1200 as a supported resolution. I have no idea why 864x1152 is showing.

Chris:
Thanks for the reply. I never noticed the "Preset Display Modes" in the manual. Thanks for pointing it out.
Yes I also find th 1152x864 an odd resolution, but it is there in my settings page. So the documentation is correct.
Do you know if there is a way to add a preset mode? I would like to try to add 1200x900.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. I forgot to mention that in my original post, I have the 2007FP monitors in portrait mode, that is why I posted the resolution as 864x1152.

SpeedyVV,

There is no way to add that resolution to the Factory Preset Modes.

I guess you are trying to drive the 2007FP with the analog VGA output on the 7600GT...? That is possibly why you are limited to only using the preset resolutions.

If you connect the videocard to the monitor throught DVI, you will be able to create any custom resolution and have it properly scaled in the videocard "Use NVidia Scaling"

For example, I am getting great quality at non-standard resolutions of 1360x850 and 1384x864 on my 24-inch Dell monitor thanks to NVidia scaling.

BernardPD:
I am actually using DVI, however I use monitor scaling. I wonder if that is why when I try to create a custom resolution it says it is invalid.

I will try it out tonight to see if that works with "Use NVidia Scaling".

As a side question, I have always used "Monitor Scaling" because I thought that would be more efficient (total guess on my part). Would you recommend I always use "Use NVidia Scaling"?

Either way, thanks for chiming in with this great hint.

It is very likely that your custom resolution is invalid because you use monitor scaling. The scaling chip in the monitor doesn't "know" this custom resolution, but only the factory presets.

Scaling in the videocard is handled by a dedicated circuitry. So even when playing a taxing 3-D videogame, using NVidia Scaling doesn't put any additional strain on the videocard gaming performance.

I would certainly always select NVidia Scaling when using a resolution that is not listed in the factory presets, as it is the only way to get this resolution to display properly. When using a factory preset resolution, I would try both methods to see if there is a difference in picture quality.

I am looking forward to your results with NVidia Scaling
