I have tried every single possible combination of the ridiculous work arounds in the sticky thread posted in this forum and have had zero results.
Just do a google search on "Vista sound crackle" and you will quickly see that this problem is not limited to Dell or Sigmatel. Prettyt much every major brand of sound card I know of has this problem in Vista so it's a Vista problem.
When it will get fixed is anyones guess as it's already been months.
I've decided to nuke my Vista install and go back to XP until this is fixed.
Pity because I really like the look and feel of Vista but it just plain stinks for reliability at the moment.
To find your latest audio driver go to your downloads page by using the 'Drivers and Downloads' link on the left, in the bottom section named 'Dell Support Tools'. You can either use your Service Tag number or just follow the links to your model and operating system.
Your audio driver for Vista is the Sigmatel STAC 92xxHD, file name R147073, v.6.10.0.5343.
