I guess what I am looking for is information in the form of diagrams or someone knowing what video cards would work in the various notebooks.

I wonder if the 9600 will have the same dimensions as the 9000 pcb, and if they are swapable?

Anyone have any diagrams or know where I might be able to find them for a Inspiron 600m and 8600 as well as a Latitude D800?

it seems extremely likely that the 9600 probabaly 64mb will come to fruition in the 600m as the 9000 is considered outdated in in the inspiron series

It is worth noting however that it doesn't appear that the 600m offers upgradable/replaceable video card.  If you look at the motherboard removal instructions there is no removal of the video card, which means in all likelyhoood that the graphics chip is soldered onto the motherboard.

Check the online reference guide for motherboard removal, you can find it by using the reference tab on the top of the page.

I did some searching here and this post:

by ilkevinli says that it very well may be upgradable.  I wonder if he actually opened it up and saw it or not.  Hopefully is true and it is a daughter card and it can be upgraded... assuming the 9600 is available for the 600m sometime.
