Try a different adaptor, if its not that its probably a bad / loose connection where the jackpoint connects to the motherboard

Hi

My inspiron 5150 also has the exact same problem and im also charging my battery in a different laptop. I have bought a new power supply for it but it was no use. But I have readed on a different forum that it is a power problem on the motherboard so I am also looking for the a circuit diagram for this laptop so I can try fixing it.

The most likely problem is that constant flexing of the jack point has resulted in one of the legs breaking or coming loose from the mainboard. Check this and resolder or replace if necessary

You're not going to find a schematic of the board - they're just not published.

Measuring the DC output of your adaptor does not give a true reflection of it's ability to power your laptop or charge the battery. As well as giving the correct voltage it also needs to sustain the load (eg: 6.7a for the 5150 & 5160) You need to try a  known good adaptor  before spending loads on new hardware!
