The display panel needs to be replaced. Call Dell - they are covering some of these 17" screens even out of warranty.

I have a 9300 with the same problem and I called Dell today but they would not replace the screen. Would you know what number I should call or what recall I should quote so that they will help me out. They said the only recall with this model is the battery recall.

Thanks

I can not even find a number to get through to them unless I am willing to pay.  I can not even initiate a chat session.

How dissappointing.

I finally succedded. Call 1-800-624-989 and say "I dont know" for the express service tag. I quoted two websites to the CSR.

The CSR then agreed for a one time replacement for my LCD screen.

Keep pushing.

Dell got bad batches of LCDs on the 9200 and 9300 and they were replacing them out of warranty.  They just have not dug deep enough to find all the bad batches, or else this problem would go away.

Try the  Unresolved Issues form.  The guys there are usually more interesting in fixing problems.

Good work.  The forum can be a great place to rally the troops and force Dell to do the right thing.

I started this thread in Sept.  Dell has just agreed to replace my LCD at no charge ( I bought the machine in APril of 2005 with a 1 year warranty).

My sincere thanks to everyone here.
