Skenderbeg:

Thank you for posting your message at the Dell Community Forums.

What OS?

Also, does the same thing happen if connected via just the ethernet cable?

Regards,

I'm using XP Pro. It only happens on wireless connection. I've made sure to diable any action on lid close, too, besides the screen going dark, of course.

Thanks for any help,
James

Skenderbeg:

Check the advanced tap of your wireless adapter settings. The Minimum Power Consumption settings, is it set as Enabled or Disabled? Try setting it to Disabled.

Let us know if that has an affect.

I have the same problem on my XPS M1530 with Vista 32 and Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card.
It seems the wifi card breaks the connection immediately after closing the lid (tested by trying to call by skype from another notebook).

I've tried all I found on forums:
1. "Do nothing" in Power Management (basic)
2. Minimum power disabled in advanced Wireless configuration
3. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in Wireless power management configuration.

None of them helped.

I have discovered I have the same problem with my Dell 620 on Windows 7 when on wireless. I thought my wireless router had stopped working. The big problem is that I run a business from home and my lap top is in a docking station in a different room from the router so I really need a solution please. Niel

Since the antenna is usually in the frame of the display, leave the display open.
