It seems like your video adapter drivers got hosed. Check them by right clickin on the backgound of your desktop. click on properties, then settings, advanced and then adapter. You may want to try rolling back driver.
I plugged in another monitor and it works fine. Retry the original monitor and it starts out OK put the screen is kind of pixilating. I try to adjust resolution and it goes random again. Replug in the spare monitor and it works fine again.
Monitors do go quickly. In the display settings, what is your monitor identified as? Usually for lcd's you need to keep the refresh at 60 hz. Check you monitor specs and make sure they are ok. A crt will run at a higher freq. Which model/brand is the monitor?
