Driver for PCI Simple Com Controller and SM Bus Controller

Hi

Can anyone guide me as to where I can find the drivers for:

1.    PCI Simple Communication Controller

2.    SM BUS controller

I have an optiplex 745 mini tower (if that make a difference). Whenever i log on the new found hardware bubble keeps popping up and it's starting to get frustrating! I’ve tried here http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P4_745&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= But can’t find one! Any thoughts? Thanks.

I bought a second hand dell computer, Optiplex 755, and had my system downgraded to XP Pro.  My problem is the computer can't find my SM Bus Controller driver.  Can anyone please help me?  It will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

To resolve this issue, you require the chipset drivers. For the Optiplex 755, these are located here: www.dell.com/.../optiplex-755

Let us know how you get on with these!

If they're all missing the same driver, the vendor ID and device ID would be clues as to the device in question.

The chipset installation utility only covers Intel's components. Other components furnished with the 755 include an old-fashioned dial-up modem and a TPM module.

The list of drivers is here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/ukdhs1/Product/optiplex-755

I have many Dell 755s, with windows XP, and ALL of them show a PCI driver missing, and the chipset driver is installed that you linked, no improvement. VERY frustrating because your tool to diagnose/find drivers seems to not work with XP anymore.

Hi SpeedStep,

I have re-installed all three chipset drivers packages mentioned.  This procedure found the PCI Simple Communication Controller driver, but the SM BUS controller driver remains missing.

I understand that this could be a driver order issues, and I have reinstalled the audio and video drivers for the OptiPlex 755 on Xp, without resolving the "SM BUS controller driver "  I have not reinstalled the network drivers and would like to know if I should continue on this path?

Background: I am not using the Xp recover partition because it was wiped from the hard drive and I am using an MSDN Xp SP3 iso with an MSDN activation number.  After I got the system limping, I download an install the drivers. The first driver was the NETWORK drivers, which was download on another machine.  Then after that I could download on this machine, which I did out of order obviously.  Then I used Windows Update to get current.  Now I am into resolving missing drivers.  In order to boot the Xp iso, I had to change the SATA setting in the systems BIOS, from RAID/AHCI mode to RAID/ATA mode.  Now when I try to change back to RAID/AHCI the HD will not boot.  I am OK with staying in RAID/ATA, but I was wondering if that had anything to do with the SM BUS Controller driver?

Machine Purpose: A personal low price Mach 3 controller for a CNC router, that is stable and does not have the glitches of Mach 3 on Windows 7 32 bit, until Mach 4 is available to me.

Download and install the Intel chipset software and your SM BUS controller issue will go away.

These are INTEL AMT SOL HECI devices.

There are Newer Files that you don't need to jump thru hoops for.

One Size Fits all.

Operating Systems

Windows 7 32-bit

Windows 7 64-bit

Windows Vista 32-bit

Windows Vista 64-bit

Windows XP

Windows XP x64

Run this easy to use Intel® Driver Update Utility and it will "automatically" tell you if you need to update your chipset INF file, and if so, will prompt you to install and you are done. This will save you a lot of time not only on your chipset download but the most common files needed for your system.

I've downloaded all of the chip drivers from the Drivers&Download page. The SM Bus Controller still have a question mark in yellow next to the device. Is there anything else I can try? I have the Optiplex 755 Slim.
