3008WFP on a MacPro

Question

I bought a 3008WFP for my MacPro (Intel 2,66) together with a Monster DVI-D cable. When I hooked it up to my MacPro it was not working as it should. Text was not very well readable and images were blurry, kind of. It took me about 2 hours to find out that the monster cable was at fault. It is a Single Link cable and according to Apple I should use a Dual Link Cable. When I attached the Dual Link cable that came with my monitor everything worked fine. I still have some questions, hopefully somebody can answer them. 1) The company I bought it from (I bought it not from Dell directly) said that I should not need a Dual Link cable to use the monitor at full resolution. Apple says I should. Who is right? 2) Apple supplies drivers for their 30' ACD. Dell has Mac drivers available for the 3007WFP. I was unable to find them for the 3008WFP. Where and when will they become available?

JoghoJogho,Please use the Dell supplied dual link cable. On VGA, the resolution should be 1920x1200. On DVI/Displayport, the resolution should be 2560x1600.Go into the OSD (On Screen Display)  <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> Preset Modes and choose Gamma Mac. Then, try all of the Preset Modes one at a time and check for text clarity. Also, play with the Display Settings- Sharpness bar and check for text clarity.We did not make a Mac specific driver.

I just have a question I'm planning to buy Dell 3008WFP display and I wanted to know can it work with older PC's or newer Mac Pro with standard DVI, I have a dual-link DVI card a Geforce 8800GT, Sense the 3008WFP has displayport does Dell have adapters Display Port mini DVI to DVI?
