Power down laptop>remove battery>re-insert battery and power up.This usually works when you get a pop up stating unable to recognize battery.

I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in - no luck. I also, don't receive a message that the battery is not being recognized, but when I go to the power meter within Windows XP under battery it says "not present" even though the battery is in the laptop and fully charged. Also, when I unplug the laptop from the AC adapter I get a message from windows that I should connect my AC adapter in order to not loose my work. I've also tried using the AC adapter from my D620, but I have the same problem.

Have you used the same power supply to charge or switch with different units as far as charging it?...Click start>control panel>device manager>click (+) next to battery and see what it says.Check dells driver page and see if there is a bios change that will correct this?...

I've had this problem for over a year now but have resigned myself to just using the AC adaptor and not using the laptop mobile.

My 9300 has the red low battery warning light on the hinge of the LCD screen and it constantly flashes if I put a battery in...when this first occured I purchased a new battery thinking the original had worn out.

New battery...no change.

i'm glad i just read this post...  recently on battery alone the battery would last maybe 10 minutes then gradually got less and less until now the orange battery low light flashes constantly. I was just about to purchase a new battery but if it still happens even after a new battery then i won't waste the money. Should of known when they had the battery recall something was going to go bad like this. is there a way to get this light to stop flashing? or is there something i can put up in the area of the battery so it will lay correctly in my lap
