If you have virus and spyware on you computer open them and do a full system scan. Most programs are pretty simple to use. There is usually a button that says scan.

Did you do an anti-spyware scan?

Try downloading AVG virus and anti-spyware from here:

Hi when you install / uninstall a program in vista it creates a restore point, take for example if removing something broke your pc, you could restore back to when it was installed (and your pc would work again) - this uses several GB of your hard drive. By default vista will use 15% of your hard drive for restore points, however if you like you can specify a limit.

To begin click start - type cmd in the search box - Under programs you will see cmd, right click it and click run as an administrator - accept the user account prompt.

Type in vssadmin list shadowstorage (press enter) - it will tell you how much space is being used by system restore. You will notice that it's probably several GB.

Now to set a limit type

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize=(enter amount of gb that you want)

e.g for 10gb enter

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize=10gb   (click enter)

Hope this helps!

At the moment it's set to default - to use 15% of your hard drive maximum. But you can specify a limit e.g 10 gb. When your computer reaches this 10 gb limit - it will just delete the oldest restore point and replace that space with a new one. So it will not stop creating restore points. If you want to change it back simply work out what 15% of your hard drive space is - and set it to that limit....

Also ensure that you delete all but the most recent restore point - because otherwise it will keep the previous one which could be using up all of that space.

To do this click start - all programs - accessories - system tools - disk cleanup - Files from all users on this computer (accept the user account control prompt)  if it asks for a drive select the c: drive (it will be automatically selected) -(it will take a while to load) - at the top there is two tabs, click onto more options - under system restore & shadow copies click cleanup

Simple as that :)
